My name is John Haywood although a great many of you may know me by the nickname is use throughout the 'netverse - 'Guardian'.
I got involved in website publishing in 2002 when I published my very first website www.guildofsecurity.co.uk As I had been involved in the Private Security industry within the United Kingdom for more years than I care to remember I created the site primarily as a sounding board for other security personnel.
At that time, there were (and still are) a great many private security companies who ignored workers rights and generally treated their employees as less than human. This site informed employees of their rights and was used in general terms to expose bad management practices and promote better ones.
This site proved that one man CAN make a difference and indeed, we did.
In 2006 our Government introduced a licensing scheme for all private security officers to ensure they had adequate training for their job role, that they were free of any criminal record and most importantly, they had conflict management training.
Several area's of Health and Safety legislation were reviewed to include some functions specific to the security industry.
As my site developed, I came across the phpnuke content management system and through that, made a number of new friends in order to help me iron out some of the bugs in the website code.
I left the private security industry some time ago to do other 'security' related work and am retiring from full-time work completely in October 2007 when my wife (Zoe) and I emigrate.
This will allow me to persue my chosen Masters Degree and my hobby of web design, primarily PHP scripting.
